General Questions About Our Private Sedona Tours

Private Sedona tours with Sedona Wine and Vortex Tours. Scenic, winery and vortex tours.

1. What makes Sedona Wine and Vortex Tours different from other tour companies?

At Sedona Wine and Vortex Tours, we specialize in private, personalized Sedona tours that combine the area’s best wine tasting experiences, breathtaking scenic views, and our exclusive Prana Viewing Vortex Experience. Unlike crowded group tours, our private tours are tailored to your interests and pace — no rushing, no generic “one-size-fits-all” itinerary, and no packed vans. You’ll enjoy an unforgettable day with authentic Sedona beauty, award-winning Arizona wines, and a deeper connection to the Sedona vortex phenomenon you won’t find anywhere else.

2. What is included in your private tours?

Every private tour includes professional transportation, a knowledgeable local guide, and curated scenic drives through Sedona’s most stunning red rock landscapes. You’ll enjoy exclusive stops at top-rated wineries, vineyards, or tasting rooms. If you choose a vortex tour, you’ll also experience our hands-on Prana Viewing demonstration at one of Sedona’s renowned energy sites. Complimentary chilled bottled water is provided, and we’re happy to customize your route to match your interests.

3. How long are your tours?

Our private tours typically range from 3 to 6 hours, depending on the experience you choose. Wine and vortex tours are usually 3–4 hours, while our 6+ hour Grand Tour includes a vortex visit, wine tasting stop, more Sedona scenic highlights, and a visit to the historic Jerome Ghost Town. Exact timing will be confirmed when you book so we can plan the perfect day for you.

4. Do you offer custom or combination tours?

Absolutely! We can mix and match wine tasting, scenic drives, vortex sites, and even photo or shopping stops to create your perfect itinerary. Whether you want a morning vortex experience followed by an afternoon vineyard visit, or a full day exploring Sedona’s landscapes and hidden gems, we’ll design a tour just for you.

5. How do I book a tour and is a deposit required?

Booking is easy — you can reserve directly through our website or by phone. Tour reservations are paid in full and in advance at the time of booking. We recommend booking early, especially during peak seasons, to ensure availability for your preferred date and time.

6. How many wineries or tasting rooms will we visit?

The number of wineries or tasting rooms you visit depends on your chosen tour length, drinking pace (not too fast, please), and whether you include a vortex experience. Our standard 3- and 4-hour wine/vortex tours include one wine-tasting stop — either at a local tasting establishment or a vineyard (vineyards require a little extra travel time). If you only want to experience wine tasting at our vineyards, you can choose either the 3 or 4 hour tour, or book us by the hour.  We’ll help plan the best route to match your preferences.

7. What types of wine can I expect to taste?

Arizona’s wine scene is thriving, producing award-winning reds, whites, and rosés. You may taste bold Syrahs, crisp Sauvignon Blancs, smooth Tempranillos, or unique blends found only here. Many venues also offer seasonal or limited releases. Arizona’s climate and soil produce wines often compared to those from Mediterranean regions.

8. Are tasting fees included in the tour price?

There are no entrance fees at any of the establishments we visit, but tasting fees are not included unless otherwise noted in your booking confirmation. This gives you the freedom to choose what you want to sample and whether you’d like to purchase wine by the glass or bottle, and because we often receive special requests and can visit non-standard venues at any time where we don't know the menu or pricing schedule as well as ones we frequent. Additionally, many of the establishments we visit offer discounts to our guests.

9. Will I have to show ID?

Yes — in accordance with Arizona state law and all other applicable regulations, you must present a valid government-issued photo ID upon request to participate in any wine or other alcohol tastings.

10. Are children allowed on the tour?

Well-behaved children are welcome, and many of the wineries and vineyards we visit are family-friendly. That said, our wine tours are designed as a more adult-oriented experience, giving parents and couples a chance to relax and enjoy themselves. We recommend considering the setting and duration of the tour when deciding whether to bring younger guests.

11. Can I purchase wine during the tour?

Absolutely! Most wineries and tasting rooms sell wine by the bottle or case, and some can even ship directly to your home (depending on your state’s shipping laws). Your guide can help store your purchases safely during the tour.

12. What’s the difference between a tasting room, a winery, and a vineyard?

A tasting room is a retail location where guests can sample and purchase wines from multiple producers — either from regional vineyards or from around the world — but the location itself does not produce wine.

A winery produces and markets its own wines, often from grapes grown in its own vineyards, but in the Sedona area these wines are typically served in a retail space separate from their production facilities, without an on-site vineyard.

A vineyard is where wine grapes are grown, and in many cases, the wine is produced and served directly on the property.

It’s important to note that there is no actual Sedona wine industry — no grapes are commercially grown, and no wines are produced within the Sedona area. The term “Sedona” in wine marketing is a branding choice. In reality, wines marketed as “Sedona” are grown and produced in the nearby Verde Valley and in Southern Arizona, in regions like Wilcox and Sonoita. The Verde Valley is home to just five vineyards that serve their own wines on-site. Many of the grapes used for local Verde Valley wines are sourced from southern Arizona, either from vineyards owned by the winery or from contracted growers.

Venue and dining differences
Local tasting venues vary widely in setting, size, and food offerings. Some offer sweeping estate vineyard views or creekside seating, while others feature decorative vineyards around their tasting areas. Venues range from spacious estates with water features like fountains and ponds to smaller, more intimate tasting spaces. Dining options also differ: some have full kitchens with complete menus, others offer tapas, charcuterie boards, or light snacks, and a few feature gourmet food trucks partnered with established restaurants. Certain vineyards offer behind-the-scenes wine-making tours (booked separately by the establishment), while others focus solely on tastings. Four of the five Verde Valley vineyards are located close together along Page Springs Road outside Sedona. The fifth, Alcantara, is much farther away and is only visited on our tours by special request.

Prana Viewing Vortex Experience – Frequently Asked Questions

Private Sedona tours with Sedona Wine and Vortex Tours. Scenic, winery and vortex tours.

13. What is the Prana Viewing Vortex Experience?

The Prana Viewing Vortex Experience is our original, signature Sedona vortex tour. Instead of repeating myths or unverified claims, we guide you through a hands-on process that helps you actually see and interact with prana — what we believe to be a subtle, life-force energy visible to the naked eye under the right conditions. Guests often describe it as one of the most memorable and spiritually profound experiences of their lives.

14. Can anyone see prana, or do you need special abilities?

Almost anyone can see prana with normal eyesight, and most of the time even with vision problems or corrective vision . You don’t need psychic skills or years of training. With simple visual techniques that we have developed over many years, the right location, suspended skepticism and a little patience, most guests begin to see prana within minutes or less.

15. How do you teach guests to see prana during the tour?

We use a combination of location choice, lighting conditions, and guided focus techniques. You’ll learn exactly where to look, how to adjust your vision, and how to recognize prana movement against the Sedona sky or natural surroundings. You will then learn to see prana particles interact with you and a partner. Most of our guests see it interact with two people at the same time.

16. Is the Prana Viewing Vortex Experience the same as other Sedona vortex tours?

Not even remotely like other tours. Most Sedona vortex tours focus on storytelling, generalized “energy” discussions, or passionately explaining unverified phenomenon, such as twisted trees and even alien power generators located deep underground. Our proprietary experience is hands-on, with a practical process that allows you to personally witness and interact with prana — something you can take with you and practice anywhere.

17. What makes your vortex tour unique compared to others in Sedona?

Our approach is based on real, observable phenomena and years of direct experience. We avoid pseudo-scientific jargon and instead focus on creating a genuine, interactive encounter with prana, combined with Sedona’s breathtaking scenery and a relaxed, private setting.

18. Does the Prana Viewing Vortex Experience involve hiking or physical exertion?

Little to none. We visit easily accessible locations with short, gentle walks from the vehicle. You won’t need to hike long distances or climb steep trails. However, the vortex locations are outdoors in areas that are not considered ADA compliant or accessible.

19. What should I bring or wear for the Prana Viewing Vortex Experience?

Dress for the weather, casual outdoor clothing, wear comfortable close toed shoes, and bring sunglasses and water (we always have plenty of extra water). A hat and light layers are recommended in summer; in cooler months, bring a jacket. You won't need large backpacks or tote bags full of gear or supplies. In fact, the less you can bring the more comfortable you will be.

20. Can children participate in the Prana Viewing Vortex Experience?

Yes. Well-behaved children are welcome, and some enjoy the visual discovery aspect. The tour is generally designed as a more contemplative, adult-oriented experience, so families should decide based on their child’s interest and attention span. However, on the occasions that we have children and young people who are interested in the subject, they usually see it extremely well and enjoy a powerful experience alongside the adults.

21. Is the Prana Viewing Vortex Experience weather-dependent?

Partly. Clear skies and shade are best for viewing prana, but light clouds or mild weather usually don’t interfere. In rare cases of heavy rain or storms, we may have to either cancel or reschedule the prana viewing portion of the tour for safety. We have done the prana viewing experience with hard core travelers in snow and sleet, but rain kind of makes it impossible as everyone is being soaked. The presence of lightning, though rare, introduces extreme danger and we may have to forego that portion of the tour for obvious safety reasons.
